Detti del mese
In casa di gentiluomini, nascono prima le femmine e poi gli uomini.
All’inizio dell’anno, guardati da ogni malanno.
Gennaio mese freddo e ghiacciato fa pensare che un altro anno è già passato.
Freddo a gennaio, fa ricco il granaio.

THE BIG CASTLE CALLED THE “CASTELLONE”
In the fifteenth century Fara had as many as two castles: the Castrus Vetus or inferior, today known as “Castellone” and the Castrum Novum or superior called “Castle”. The first, built on a hill that dominates the town, was originally a small fortress, in fact as evidence it remains a tower. Inside there is an interesting fresco of the Cinquecento representing a Madonna crowned on the throne with Infant Jesus. Passing the years the “Castellone” has been modified many times and today it has the characteristics of a country palace. Even the “Castle” during the years has undergone many changes due to different owners who followed on. Elegant country villa in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, then boarding-school for young people managed by Guanelliani fathers and now seat of a private clinic. The arboreal species and the centenarian trees of the big park around the Castle are precious.
